ABOUT THE ART
Photography has always been a part of my practice – though more of a private affair. I use photos as findings and documentation of the world I encounter on an everyday basis. Growing up in the suburbs of North Florida conditioned me with a heightened sense to realize when something is out of place within the rest of the manicured landscape. Over time I became captivated with documenting this inconsistent presence as I encountered it and its impact in our shared environments. There is nothing truly exceptional about these photos to me – most are taken on my phone as I pass by a given scene. Photography just happens to be the simplest tool for me to capture such a fleeting moment. I think photos are my own way of saying, “I was here at this date and time and here is what I saw.” These “findings” then serve as launching points – much like a sketch into my larger artist practice.
