MIXD presents its latest exhibition, Prism

Prism is an exploration of color and light as properties under a variety of conditions. This is an essential informant in concept art that establishes mood and communicates the narrative of a story by means of visual cues. A synesthetic survey of the physiological parallels and psychological congruence that result from the relationship between color and light. This exhibition examines the metamorphosis of this transaction as captured through the works of 13 artists across various mediums and disciplines.

Blue: a color story

June 1, 2023 – September 1, 2023

Unearthing a cool-toned color study to rival the Ozark summer heat.

Blue: a color story pares down MIXD Gallery’s typical model of maximalism to center one of the driving tenets of visual art—color. The color blue has been a throughline throughout art historical canons, a symbol of purity, divinity, and tranquility. Contemporary psychology also promotes the calming effects that blue pigments serve in its environment. Drop 003 explores a diverse mix of artists’ use of varying blue tones in their work, experimenting across a range of media for a monochromatic immersion that marries the color’s ongoing role in the visual dialogue of history with a cool-toned color study that rivals the Ozark summer heat.

March 3, 2023 – May 24, 2023

Considering both the symbiotic relationship and porous boundaries between an organism and its habitat.

Titled Natural Beings, MIXD Gallery’s second drop considers the symbiotic relationship between an organism and its habitat. In a survey of traditional landscapes and portraiture, the collection of works captures the porous boundaries between humanity and our natural surroundings. Natural Beings is a celebration of the diverse figural representation in dialogue with real and imagined environments, inviting viewers to assess how one subject may influence the other.

Merging Spaces

On View November 2022 — January 2023

MIXD presents its inaugural exhibition, “Merging Spaces”, including a sweep of 30 regional artists and artworks with the intent to expand the region’s art market and community.

The fruit of Northwest Arkansas’ cultural and geographical landscape, MIXD presents its inaugural exhibition, “Merging Spaces”, including a sweep of local artists and artworks with the intent to expand the region’s art market and community. Through its exhibition-making and unique gallery model, MIXD invites dialogue and chemistry in providing an artist- centric style of curation on a three- month rotation. At the helm of these seasonal drops, MIXD curator Allison Hobbs contributes to the conversation and expansion of the region’s community of artists and its audiences by localizing the talent and pulse of Arkansas’ art world and elevating it on a national scale. Binding color, texture and form, “Merging Spaces” evokes themes of psychogeography, considering the role of art within our own personal and shared spaces and the role of positive environmental influence, creating a blissful immersion of sensory delight through painting, photography, sculpture, and functional objects. Exploring how imagery, by art, allows us mental space and rest.
