Gene Brack
Gene Brack is a retired educator and pastor who began painting abstracts at the age of 60.When his first painting sold well, he began pursuing art and learning from artists throughout the Midwest in Iowa andIllinois. His love for color and rich texture is achieved by pallet knife with cold wax and oil. Gene thrives in the spontaneous process, allowing each painting to ‘show up’ in the process and names his work once it is finished. The tension between the blank canvas and the finished work, he finds energizing. Major influencers on his style include Van Gogh, as well as contemporary western artist, Rocky Hawkins. His life as an artist began in his sixtieth year and since then, Gene has sold several hundred paintings in the American Midwest, Canada and Arkansas. Gene holds an MFA in theatre for set & lighting design from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has written dozensof dramatic works for ministries, as well as creative takes on scriptural teachings. Gene authored his first book, Scattered, in 2020. His career spans 50 years in education and ministry where he thrived with creative approaches to both. Always thinking outside the box has marked his approach to art as well as life.
