Chase Lashley

Alexander Chase Lashley is an illustrator and printmaker working in Fayetteville, Arkansas, under the name Ego Illustrations. He works primarily in pen and ink, graphite, and acrylic, drawing ordinary things — a crushed water bottle, a broken glass, a stairwell, a shell — with enough sustained attention that they stop behaving like ordinary things. The strangeness in his work is not added; it surfaces from looking too long.

He holds an M.S. in counseling from the University of Arkansas, and works as a licensed counselor alongside his studio practice. His work reflects his profession – ordinary things seen in a new light and the beauty inherent in times work on the subject.
