Dune Beard
Meet the Artist
Dune Beard
Dune Beard is an American craftsman and fine artist based in Northwest Arkansas, working through his multidisciplinary studio, Dune Custom Works. His creative foundation began in childhood, when he received formal recognition for his drawing at seven years old. That early interest in form and observation eventually expanded into working with wood and metal, leading him to begin forging steel blades at twelve and studying traditional wood joinery in his teens.
Over more than a decade of studio practice, Beard has developed a body of work that includes bespoke furniture, architectural components, original paintings, and more than two thousand custom hand forged blades distributed around the world. His work is produced in small batches or as singular, one of a kind commissions, with an emphasis on natural materials, traditional construction methods, refined proportion, and long term utility.
Across mediums, Dune approaches each object with the same goal: to create work that is useful, visually distinct, and made to endure for generations.
Artist Statement:
My practice is grounded in a deep respect for natural materials and the discipline of traditional joinery. Having begun working with wood and metal at eleven, I approach fabrication with a commitment to long term utility, refined proportion, and strong visual presence.
Whether shaping a piece of furniture, forging a blade, or developing an architectural obiect, my goal is to remove excess and let the material and construction speak clearly. In a culture often dominated by the disposable, I build in small batches or create singular, one of a kind pieces designed to be used, maintained, and passed down through generations.
