Kathryn Smith

Kathryn Smith (she/ella) is a Colombian/American potter. Allyship and empathy are important motivators for her work—so much so that she incorporates allyship into the name of her pottery business (Ally Kat Pottery). Whether it’s the message she’s wanting to send through her pieces, or just the way a pot feels in your hand – she wants her pottery to make people feel seen and appreciated. She started her pottery journey taking community classes in 2021 and primarily focuses on throwing functional pieces on the wheel. In her professional life, she’s a lawyer and corporate social responsibility professional. When she is not doing her day job, there is a good chance she’s doing something pottery related.
