Meet the Artist

Mary Gentle

Mary Gentle was born in Arizona and grew up in Maine, Ohio, England, and Italy. She was the middle child of 10 children. Gentle holds a Biology degree with a Minor in English from University of North Texas. She taught public school for 12 years and worked in emergency care for animals for 20 years. A fine artist now based in Eureka Springs, Arkansas she has happily worked in first oil, then encaustic, then acrylic, gouache, and collage.

The inner workings of my sound found their first expressions in the written word and in visual art. They are a direct connection to the subconscious – wounds and all. Through it comes a chance at healing. Being a middle child of a large family taught me how to get along. My parents taught us that compassion is our highest calling. Whether we build each other up or tear each other down says a great deal about who we are. Using a kinesthetic blend of curiosity, intuition, and observation, I found my catalyst. My artistic goal is to connect in a way that inspires others to find their voice.

My hope is that you find a way to express your inner self. It’s what makes you unique.
