Meet the Artist

Trip Johnson

Trip Johnson has been living and working in Fayetteville, Arkansas since 2003. Johnson found his love for art early in life through drawing and painting animals at the age of five, later discovering a passion for sculpture and ceramics in high school. He was a graduate of Missouri State University in 2002 with a BFA in Computer Animation and minored in Ceramic Sculpture. Johnson explored many different visual art disciplines in college including photography, painting, printmaking, casting, digital media, and life drawing but his draw toward ceramic sculpture inspired his creative freedom and vision for form.  He would later take on a career in the corporate world working for Architecture firm BRR and Walmart doing 3D Graphic Design & Store Design for 17 years. Trip’s work tends to be functional while being conceptually elevated into unique artistic expression. “I love the creative freedom I get from working with clay.  I’m constantly experimenting with my forms and finishing techniques.  The endless possibilities with stains, washes, and glazes lend themselves well with my work which is texture heavy.
